Celebrate the Flavors of Fall

Generally, I am not a coffee person. I have only attempted to become a true coffee drinker for two reasons:
1. entering the "real world"
2. a boy

It just never took--the coffee or the boy. I wish I was a coffee drinker. In fact, the only time I ever drink coffee is because I like walking around with my little paper cup that has it's little cardboard wrap around hand protector thing that says "look at me, I'm cute, I drink coffee." But friends, for the last couple of years, I have become a seasonal coffee drinker. And there is only one reason why: the Pumpkin Spice Latte of Joy. The PSLoJ is the way that the entire world knows that it is fall. Forget falling leaves, forget crisp weather, forget frost warnings, hello old friend, hello PSLoJ.

I drive past the barnes and noble and beginning in September I strain my neck and try to stay on they road while looking for the sign in the window announcing the latest and greatest seasonal drink. And finally, FINALLY, one day, there it is: "Celebrate the Flavors of Fall"--and I hear the hallelujah chorus. All is well.

A timely haiku in honor of the PSLoJ
you are perfection
if only you fought bird flu
you are a true friend
